We are looking for an individual whose overriding responsibility will be the development of a fundamental understanding of structure-property-relationship for S(S) BR and high-cis BR compounds in order to support the technology and product development for our high performance synthetic rubbers and to accelerate commercialization.

Material Scientist Rubber, R&D (f/m)

 

Your Tasks:

• method development in order to fundamentally understand the interaction of innovative functionalized Synthetic Rubber (SSBR, BR) with fillers, especially silica
• creatively contribute in proof-of-principle evaluation of new ideas
• provide consultancy to the synthetic chemist with quick, iterative data driven feedback whether new concepts can result in breakthrough performance
• optimization and development of new methods for the characterization of morphology and phase selective filler dispersion in rubber blends
• define criteria for optimization and support such technology development through the early stages of the innovation process
• documentation, communication and presentation of results orally and in scientific reports
• strong collaboration within R&D and with other functions; demonstration of business acumen

Your experience:

• PhD in Material Science (preferably Synthetic Rubber); Polymer Technology or similar Engineering or Science discipline; alternatively Master’s Degree in combination with relevant professional experience
• experience in structure-property-relationship development of rubber compounds including hands-on compounding experience and morphology formation, cure kinetics, vulcanize characterization
• theoretically and practically sound in rubber processing and testing
• experience in Tire application would be an advantage
• ability to work scientifically as part of a team or individually in a structured, systematic and self-driven mode
• scientific curiosity, creativity, passion and drive are natural to you
• excellent English skills; German would be an advantage
• computer Skills (MS Office), other data analysis or design tools would be an advantage
